It is important to put the ingredients in a mixing bowl in the order given.
- 2 1/2 Cups warm water
- 2 Tablespoons Milk powder / Soya Milk Powder
- 4 Tablespoons Margarine
- 4 Tablespoons Sugar/Sweetener
- 3 teaspoons Salt
- 61/2 cups Flour (Cake Flour)
- 10g Instant Yeast
Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl, add more flour till dough is not sticky. Once dough is formed, paint or dab oil over the dough, cover bowl with cling-wrap and a dishcloth or tablecloth. Leave to rise (about 1 hour).
Once risen – roll dough into either hamburger or hot dog shapes and paint with either beaten egg-white, or bicarbonate of soda that has been boiled in water. Paint with a pastry brush and leave to rise.
I use about 3 tablespoons of Bicarb to half a liter of water – bring to boil and paint buns.
Bake buns at 180 degrees for 1 hour till brown.
Please note what temperature works best for your oven. I bake mine in air fryer at 170 degrees
